Key Terms
Undergraduate student: a student admitted to a college program that results in a four-year "bachelor's degree." Also known as a "degree-seeking student."
Liberal education requirements: a set of requirements that all U of M Twin Cities students must complete, regardless of their major. Also known as "lib eds" or "generals."
Major: a set of coursework designed to grant mastery of a specific subject. All students at the U of M Twin Cities must complete a major.
Minor: a set of coursework designed to give moderate experience in a subject. Curriculum is often a scaled-down version of major coursework. Completing a minor is optional.
