This year, Best Practices Day is extending into two days, with a workshop on May 1 followed by a keynote (from NYU's Marc Triola), posters, and a showcase on May 2.
The 2019 theme is: Outcomes-Based Health Sciences Education: Translating Data to Best Practices.

This workshop is designed to help faculty who have little to no experience teaching in an active learning classroom (ALC) prepare for the transition. We will discuss the advantages of using active learning classrooms and describe activities and assessments that you can use in the space.
The Center for Educational Innovation (CEI) collaborates across the University system to advance effective teaching and engaged learning. CEI is a centrally funded, systemwide resource that partners with central and academic units at each campus to support the University of Minnesota’s teaching mission.

The central purpose of the McKnight Land-Grant Professorship program is to strengthen the University’s faculty for the future. The program is designed to advance the careers of the most promising junior faculty members who are at the beginning stages of their professional careers, and who have the potential to make significant contributions to their departments and to their scholarly fields. The program is also intended to help build loyalty to the institution. The McKnight Land-Grant Nomination Form for 2019-21 Awards and the nomination dossier are both due by midnight on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
Each year since 1965, the University of Minnesota has recognized a select group of teachers for their outstanding contributions to undergraduate education. The award, named for a former dean of General College, and is made possible through the generous support of the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association. Medical Educator Scholarship and Development (MEDS) is delighted to announce this new monthly session open to all faculty, staff and trainees focused on medical education scholarship. Sessions are held the 4th Friday of the month from 11 am -12 pm. This structured hour long conference allows faculty to present their medical education projects (at any stage, including conception, grant preparation, data analysis, and manuscript/presentation preparation). Faculty are welcome to express their interest here and you will be contacted to schedule your session.
