Water Systems:

In this Science unit, students will have the opportunity to discover that water is crucial to life on Earth. Students will need a parent or other helper to guide them through these activities and help them discuss the reflection questions. Students will develop an understanding of the important role that water systems play in global ecosystems. They will demonstrate an understanding that water is an important resource that needs to be managed sustainably.

Record your thoughts to the following questions on a google doc or in your notebook:What is one goal you have to reduce your water footprint? What is your plan to accomplish this goal?

Listen/Watch/Do - Water Pollution

Learn 360 video-This video will introduce you to the ideas of how water pollution can occur during the water cycle as air pollutants combine with rain or snow. Waste from industrial and agricultural runoff is polluting waters that could be the source of our drinking water.

Respond in your journal or google doc:

Describe two ways that contaminants can enter the water cycle and some ideas for how to solve the problem.

Listen/Watch/Do - Cells

Learn 360 Video-Observe plant and animal cells under a microscope. Understand the three main parts of a cell: membrane, cytoplasm, and nucleus. Watch cells at work and note their functions.

Record your thoughts to the following questions on a google doc or in your notebook: How are plant and animal cells the same? How are they different? Compare them using a Venn Diagram.
