Needs and Characteristics of Living things:

In this Science unit children will investigate the characteristics and needs of plants and animals. Students will need a parent or other helper to guide them through these activities and help them discuss the reflection questions.

The focus for these activities is web based learning.

Please start with the activities in the first box and work your way through. (i.e., 1. Listen/Watch/Do, 2. Read 3. Write etc.

Learn about plants & animals as you spot them in an outdoor scene, discover more about where plants and animals live as well as other interesting facts. Different animals tend to live in different habitats that suit their characteristics, this is the same with plants, which thrive in an environment that suits them. See if you can spot living things such as flowers, trees, insects and birds as you complete the fun activities in this cool, interactive science game for kids

A sorting activity, drag and drop the images to the living or non-living sections.

Living things have characteristics such as can move, can breathe, reproduce, grow etc. while nonliving things can't do most or all of the latter. This game contains pictures of both living and nonliving things.

Students will group a variety of foods into groups. Dragging and dropping food into the correct category.

Read about the Arctic Fox and it’s habitat, then answer questions around them.
