Social Studies Gr 2

Communities Around the World

In this Social Studies unit, students will learn about and discuss different communities around the world. Students will need a parent or other helper to guide them through these activities and help them discuss the reflection questions. The focus for these activities is web based learning.

Please start with the activities in the first box and work your way through. (i.e., 1. Listen/Watch/Do, 2. Read 3. Write etc.)

Watch this Learn 360 video clip that explores the question, What is a community? This video provides some answers. Students will gain a new perspective on themselves and the world when they see this intimate view of three different communities around the globe & explore the relationship between people and their environment.

When finished, create a Venn Diagram to show the similarities and differences between two of the three countries mentioned in the video.
