I’m very passionate about fitness and wanting to take care of the body. In the past I had mental issues that caused me to overwork and push my body and when I got to high school I wanted to really take care of my body in a healthy manner as well as teach others how to do so properly. I started running in 2nd grade and I hurt my pelvic in high school due to the way that I ran as I grew up. Over the years I ran with my feet pointing inwards which tilted my pelvic, putting me into physical therapy. I didn’t enjoy going to physical therapy at first but it really taught me that I needed to take care of myself both physically and mentally. I’d say that going through that experience made me realize that I wanted to help and teach others how to take care of their bodies. This is why I am picking Exercise Science as my major with Strength and Conditioning as a minor.
I grew up mostly going to private catholic schools mostly being surrounded by people who looked similar to me, but I still felt unrelatable since I was surrounded by high income peers who were higher status. When I joined the AAP I got to meet so many different people that I never knew would be similar to me. Working and meeting this diverse group of people showed me that there are people who I would have never guessed have similar interests as I do.
I never really saw myself being where I am today, going to college and having a new, more optimistic, outlook on life. I used to be a really pessimistic person but I’m really proud of the person that I’ve become, being able to look at the good in everything and having the opportunities that I have today. I would say that is my biggest achievement.
