The Resident as Teacher course offered by the Department of Family Medicine (led by Dr. Lillian Au) is mandatory for all Family Medicine residents. The Resident as Teacher course offered by PGME (facilitated by Dr. Vijay Daniels) is a separate course, and attendance at this PGME course does not fulfil the requirements of the Family Medicine Residency Program.
This course is to celebrate and encourage the highest form of learning: learning how to teach. Components:
R1: Series of 3 educational sessions - Principles of Clinical Teaching, How to Give Feedback, Teaching a Micro-Skill
R2: Teaching of medical students - 4 structured sessions scheduled by the DoFM Undergraduate Coordinator
Complete educational sessions in R1.
Conduct teaching sessions for medical students in R2.
