Toward the end of their R1 year, residents will receive an email from the Family Medicine Integrated Curriculum (FMIC) coordinator to book their first of two mandatory Dermatology workshops. The completion of these two workshops is a graduation requirement for both the urban and rural streams.
There are ten workshops held during the R2 year, five between July and December and five between January and June. The resident will be required to sign up for one date between July and December and one date between January and June. The resident cannot take both of their Dermatology workshops in the same period (Jul-Dec or Jan-Jun), as the content presented in each half is different. The workshops are held virtually over Zoom on a Tuesday morning from 0800-1100h.
The resident will receive an initial confirmation email of their workshop date, and then two email reminders leading up to the workshop to submit their dermatology questions along with topics they would like to learn (more) about. The workshops are very interactive (the resident will be called upon to answer questions), and it is mandatory that they have their camera on for the entire session. Screenshots of the slides during the workshop are permitted for their personal use only; the slides are not distributed otherwise. Resource links will also be emailed to the resident from the presenter for them to use in their future practice.
Questions about the workshops can be directed to fmic@ualberta.ca or by phoning (780) 492-2401.
