PGME has launched a new page for our trainees, which outlines most of the information they receive in their welcome emails. Starting Residency & Fellowship page.
The PGME Virtual Onboarding app is open and available via the Guidebook mobile app from approximately early June through until the end of March. Review of the onboarding materials is mandatory for all incoming trainees.
Please note that current UAlberta and non-UAlberta trainees continuing into subspecialty residency (from primary/core specialty) or fellowship are still required and expected to review the virtual onboarding materials.
All incoming trainees beginning on or after July 1, 2025 will received detailed PGME Virtual Onboarding information and access instructions via email (to their @ualberta.ca email address) by the end of the first week of June 2025.
The in-person orientation component is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 0800-1300. The in-person component is mandatory for all incoming primary/core specialty (PGY1) residents, new sponsored trainess in residency programs, and re-entry residents, excluding the rural-based Family Medicine residents. Important information will be provided to you at the orientation, including the distribution of your AHS ID Badge, pager, University ONEcard, and more. Please make sure if you have travel plans that you are in Edmonton and available to attend the in-person orientation. We have reminded trainees that they need to make sure they are in Edmonton and available to attend the in-person orientation.
