COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course introduces you to some major issues regarding the practice of law, the structure of the legal profession, and legal ethics. We will consider case studies regarding many of these themes, and look at careers of prominent lawyers and judges.
Course Goals
By the end of the course, it is expected that you will:
1) Understand the structure of the legal profession in Alberta, and the disciplinary process;
2) Have reflected on what is means to be an “ethical lawyer” and good “member of the legal profession”; and
3) Engaged in thought-provoking exercises surrounding topical issues related to the first two issues.
