Advanced Research Skills : Conducting Literature and Systematic Reviews, 3rd edition
Created by librarians from the Toronto Metropolitan University Libraries and the McMaster University Health Sciences Library, this short online course will help students and researchers advance their proficiency in conducting research for literature and systematic reviews. The 3rd edition includes updated content on topics such as Generative AI, Citation Mapping Tools, Synthesis and the Role of Librarians.
Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions
The Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions is the official guide that describes in detail the process of preparing and maintaining Cochrane systematic reviews on the effects of healthcare interventions. The Handbook includes guidance on the standard methods applicable to every review (planning a review, searching and selecting studies, data collection, etc.), as well as more specialized topics (non-randomized studies, adverse effects, complex interventions, equity, economics, patient-reported outcomes, etc.).
An Overview of Quality Improvement
This video by Dr. Mareeni Raymond, a general practitioner and managing editor of BMJ Quality Improvement Reports, introduces healthcare quality improvement. She explains what quality improvement (QI) involves, who it’s intended for, and why clinicians should get involved, pointing viewers to BMJ’s quality resources for further support.
Primary health care and continuous quality improvement: An evidence-based guide
This guide provides an in-depth understanding of how continuous quality improvement (CQI) can be used to strengthen health systems by: identifying core concepts underpinning CQI in primary health care (PHC) and how CQI can improve health care quality, health equity and population health; explaining how CQI data is used in a comprehensive approach to PHC to measure quality, and how data is generated and used for improving care; describing CQI tools and techniques used by PHC teams; offering guidance in interpreting data and addressing variation in care quality; providing case studies in maternal health, children’s health, mental health and other areas, to describe the application of CQI to improve clinical care; and guiding practitioners on how to collaborate and build data systems for CQI, and strengthen links between communities and PHC services.
Designed to empower healthcare professionals across all levels to drive continuous improvement in patient care and organizational performance. Covering essential aspects of healthcare quality management, patient safety with special focus on medication safety, clinical audits, accreditation preparation, and continuous quality improvement beyond accreditation, this book offers actionable tools, checklists, and real-world audit examples.
