Dr. Abdi graduated from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2001 and completed his urology residency at Shahid Beheshti Medical University in Tehran. In 2009, he became a Fellow of the European Board of Urology.
After relocating to Canada, he began a urologic oncology fellowship (research and clinical) at the Vancouver Prostate Centre in 2013. His research at the University of British Columbia focused on the use of MRI in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.
In July 2015, he started his Canadian urology residency at the University of Ottawa. In July 2020, he started his practice at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA), where he established the Division of Urology in Chatham-Kent, Ontario, and became affiliated with the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University.
In July 2024, he relocated his practice to the William Osler Health System (WOHS) and joined the faculty at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). His main areas of practice include general urology, kidney stones, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), urologic oncology, and the management of renal masses, bladder, and prostate cancers.
Dr. Abdi has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers in urology and serves as a reviewer for several medical journals.
