Dr. Duong Nguyen trained at the University of Western Ontario, where he worked with international leaders who specialize in shoulder, elbow and knee arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery. He then pursued further subspecialty training and was awarded the Charles S. Neer Sports Medicine Fellowship in Shoulder, Elbow and Knee Surgery from Columbia University/New York Hospital. Improving patient care through research is an important part of Dr. Nguyen’s practice. He completed a Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology/Health Research Methodology at McMaster University focusing on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears and optimizing surgical outcomes for ACL reconstructions. He is currently completing his Master's Degree in Health Law (LLM) at Osgoode Hall Law School. Dr. Nguyen has won multiple research and teaching awards including the AANA best paper, the PAIRO teaching award, the PSI/UWO/research awards, and the J.C. Kennedy Award for Excellence in Sport Medicine Research given by the Sport Medicine Section of the Ontario Medical Association for the best paper at the annual SportMed meeting, combining originality with basic science or clinical work in sports medicine.
