PSI Foundation Resident Research Grants

Resident Research Grants are concise health research projects, which have been largely developed by the Resident, who will be referred to as the Principal Investigator of the project. The project must be supervised by a physician with an academic appointment. To be eligible to apply for a Resident Research Grant, the Resident must have PGY status as per the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. More information here. 

The Dr. Karen Mann Catalyst Grant in Medical Education Research

The Dr. Karen Mann Catalyst Grant in Medical Education Research is intended for Royal College Resident Affiliates and early career clinician educators to encourage entry into medical education research through mentorship. More information here.

Research Grant for the Study of Communities Impacted by Health Disparities 

The Research Grant for the Study of Communities Impacted by Health Disparities supports family medicine residents (and physicians) in conducting community-based research and producing rigorous evidence related to the health disparities prevalent in either remote, rural Canadian communities or underserved outer-city areas beyond the urban inner-city core. Canadian Association of General Surgeons

Keenan Research Summer Student Program

The Keenan Research Summer Student Program provides opportunities for undergraduate and medical students to conduct research at Unity Health Toronto (St. Michael’s Hospital site) under the supervision of a Principal Investigator (scientist and/or MD). More information here.

SickKids Summer Research Program

The SickKids Summer Research Program provides professional and career development opportunities for undergraduate and medical students who are working on a research project with a Research Institute scientist for the summer. More information here. 

UHN Summer Training And Research Program

The University Health Network Summer Training And Research Program provides opportunities for students to perform summer research under the supervision of a UHN scientist, attend educational sessions to learn critical research and professional development skills, communicate their research with the community during a Research Day, and receive a certificate of program completion. SRI Summer Student Research Program

Sunnybrook Research Institute offers a Summer Student Research Program that provides undergraduate and medical students with a unique hospital-based research experience and showcases the postgraduate environment as a prospective career. More information here. 

CFMS-MDFM Travel Equity Fund

Each year the Canadian Federation of Medical Students (CFMS) and MD Financial Management allocate funds to provide financial assistance for CFMS member medical students who wish to attend their General Meetings and annual events, including the CFMS Annual General Meeting, National Day of Action, and Canadian Medical Student Conference. Dr. W. Dale Dauphinee Award for Excellence in Medical Education

The Dr. W. Dale Dauphinee Award for Excellence in Medical Education is awarded annually by the Medical Council of Canada to one medical student and one resident who have demonstrated excellence in medical education within the schools of medicine in Canada. Each recipient will be awarded $5,000 to be used for studies, books, or e-learning tools, and/or conference attendance.The letters of nomination must be submitted electronically to awards@mcc.ca no later than April 30 of the current year. CFMS Student Initiative Grant

CFMS Student Initiative Grants (SIG) Program was established in 2007 to provide support and funding to medical student initiatives including charitable, educational, and social events all organized by medical students. The maximum amount of funding that may be requested is $3,000.00 for Tier 1 (large scale events) and $1,500.00 for Tier 2 (small to medium scale events). More information here.
