At Ixworth Primary School our children tell us that PE is one of their favourite lessons and we think physical activity is the key to good mental wellbeing. Our teaching staff are confident and well supported to deliver good quality PE lessons. In addition to the statutory two lessons of PE a week, we offer our children a range of extracurricular physical activities including dance, gymnastics, archery, football, basketball, tennis and football as well as opportunities to take part in the daily mile and structures games at lunchtimes.

We have plenty of space - basketball courts, a barked adventure area,  astro turf and use of a large adjacent field. At playtimes children are led by trained adults and children in a variety of fun and active games. The playground is home to a range of outdoor play equipment including climbing frames, tyres, imagination station, hop scotch, targets and grids.

Working closely with The Sporting Trust a local hristian sports community trust we offer after school clubs throughout the year. Our close relationship with coaches means that they get to know our children well and our children get to know them well too! We also work with the Thurston and Gipping Valley Sports Partnership so that our children have the opportunity to engage in inter competitive sporting activities with other local schools as well as intra competition across the school. Through our Key Stage 2 residentials we also offer our children a range of outdoor and adventurous activities such as canoeing, caving, forest schools and climbing.

We also offer residential visits in key stage 2 which enable our children to get involved in zip wiring, canoeing, caving and lots more!
