Living our Values

As a Church School, Christian values and ethos thread through everything we do and are central to our policies and practice.  They are evident, in particular, in the school's emphasis upon good relationships, inclusion, spirituality, and enjoyment, and on each pupil using their individual gifts to the full.

We have a particular concern to be a community where all are appreciated and respected, where children are helped to reach their full potential, and where they are given a firm foundation for life.

Our Christian values are:

Generosity, Compassion, Courage, Friendship, Respect, Thankfulness, Trust, Perseverance, Justice, Service, Truthfulness

At Ixworth, children take part in daily Collective Worship based around core Christian Values.  These values are rooted in the Bible and are explored and developed appropriately so that they can be appreciated at all levels of understanding within the different age groups. Key celebrations in the Christian calendar, as well as those from other faiths, are also explored during collective worship (assemblies).

To help us with Collective Worship we welcome regular visits from our ‘Open the Book’ team, who dramatise stories from the Bible with the children.  We also enjoy worship led by a variety of guest speakers, including those from the local church.

Ixworth had a SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) in July  2018 which identified that the school was improving in all areas.

Arrangements for the act of collective worship are made by the school in accordance with the requirements of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, as amended. Parents and carers may, if they so wish, withdraw their children from the arrangements for collective worship; such requests should be made to the headteacher in writing.
