Zones of Regulation

We have adopted the Zones of Regulation approach in our school. This is a simple visual tool kit to help us to identify and regulate our feelings. We have a Zones of Regulation lesson each week and you will see our Zones of Regulation posters all over the school.

The approach has had a very positive impact in our school. Our children talk with a lot more confidence about their feelings and how these feel in their bodies. Our children are beginning to independently identify the tools they can use to regulate their behaviours in different social settings. They are reading each other's feelings more accurately and noticing how their behaviours impact others and vice versa.  These are important skills for adult life and ones which were put on hold during the pandemic. Being a self regulated and self reflective young person enables a child to take a confident role in their learning which then leads to greater academic success.

Here is the Zones of regulation Powerpoint we shared with our parents in our Open Morning.
