History

Why History?

Our children will learn to be historians to help them understand how people and events in the past have influenced who they are now and who they may become. It will also help them appreciate their significance in Britain and the wider world, fostering a sense of belonging, pride and responsibility. They will question and think critically using relevant historical sources.

Year 1 children explore old and new toys

Year 3 children sequence a timeline

Year 4 children use secondary sources to interpret Roman symbols and reproduce their own Roman coins

We teach History using a scheme called Connected which is an enquiry based programme.

Each history lesson begins with a question and leads our children through an investigation using high quality resources, collecting key historic knowledge and vocabulary as they go.

At the end of the lesson our children have time to reflect on what they have learnt in order to answer the question.
