Step-by step guide
Invite your stakeholders
Consider the work you want to share and the stakeholders it might affect (check your stakeholder map).
Set the context with the design challenge
What was the design challenge you took on and why? What customer group/groups did you target? What was the goal of the initiative?
Tell your story
Paint a picture of how you got to this position e.g. list the number of interviews you did, the insights you have discovered, the journeys you mapped, the personas you created etc. Keep it short and too the point.
Summarise your findings
What research and analyse activities did you do? Who did you speak to? What were the top insights you learnt from the research? Did you change the design challenge after carrying out research? What did you learn that challenged your assumptions?
Use quotes, videos, images to help summarise your insights in an engaging way.
Get across the “So what?”
How are you going to take what you’ve learnt and use it to move closer the initiative goal? e.g. what opportunities areas have you uncovered that you want to explore more and take forward into prototyping and testing with customers. Is it worth continuing or is there something else you should be exploring?
Listen to feedback and check everyone is aligned
Give everyone the chance to give feedback and capture everything you hear without judgement. People may have different ideas on what the findings mean so it’s good to have an open conversation at this point.
