Step-by step guide
Look for desired value in a partner
Start with the Desired Value building block which allows you to screen partner candidates based on a set of values that you desire. It is important to gauge that the value you are looking for is similar to the value your partner is willing to offer.
Provide benefits to the partner
Next is the Value Offer building block where you need to identify your contribution to the partnership and develop a matching offer that correspond with the desired value outlined earlier. A compelling offer complements or enhances the desired value from your partner. Once this connection is made, you have a basis for creating a relationship.
Connect partner’s value to be made mutually accessible
You then need to look at the transfer activities that connects the desired value and offered value through collaboration activities. Both parties must find a way to synergise and exchange the benefits of each other’s business models. In the transfer activities building block, a collaboration platform (e.g. partnerships, MoU ETC) is created that enable value to flow between partners.
Identify the outcome of the collaboration
In the Created Value building block, think of the solutions developed from the collaboration that will enable you to refine your business model further.
Compare perspectives from both sides
Compare your partnership canvas with the one from your partner so you will be able to check whether :
Your desired value is what your partner is willing to offer
Your offer is the value that a partner desires from you
You have the same framing of the transfer activities, required to connect your values
