What is Regulation?

OTs and PTs refer to regulation as the ability to manage physiological arousal states, emotions, behaviours, and thoughts in relation to internal and external stressors in a functional way for ourselves and others. Regulation involves the interaction of cognitive, biological, physical, sensory, social, and environmental components of well-being.   The resources below include strategies that support self-regulation and co-regulation.
