Play

What is Play?

Play is a spontaneous or organized activity which provides enjoyment and motivation to engage in the activity. There are different types of play, such as sensory, manipulative, construction, active, and imaginative play. Play also varies in the levels of participation, from passive uninvolved or onlooking play, to involved independent, parallel or cooperative play.

Play is an important part of a child's development and learning. It enables children to make sense of the world around them, expand their social and cultural understanding, express their thoughts and feelings, learn and practice planning and problem solving. Play also helps a child consider another's perspective, develop self control and regulation, expand their language and literacy skills, and enhance their motor development.
