RingCentral Emergency 911 Service (e911)
OVERVIEW
To improve the management of emergency addresses and to achieve compliance with Ray Baum's Act for US digital lines, RingCentral has enabled a location awareness feature on the RingCentral App and RingCentral Phone App. This feature will detect each time you connect to a new internet network, and will require users to update their location information. You can either select one of the pre-populated system locations or enter a new address if you are connecting from a new location.
You can define your own emergency response locations, up to maximum of 20 locations. See instructions below on how to update personal locations.
The emergency address is the address used to send to Fire / Police / other Emergency Services teams when a 911 call is placed. It is a requirement to provide an accurate address to ensure a timely response in case of an emergency.
With newly activated RingCentral @ Taft accounts your E911 address is set as your on-campus Taft School address.
Your device will be unable to place outbound calls without a registered Emergency address. The device, however, will still be able to dial 911.
The registered Emergency Address MUST be the physical address where the device is located (ex. home address, etc.)
Do NOT include special characters in the Customer Name field. The address will be verified, so please enter a valid physical address. Suite and apartment numbers should always be entered in the Apartment / Suite # field.
Important: You must update this location every time you move your RingCentral IP phone or Emergency Dialing-Enabled Desktop App to a different location.
Emergency calling will not be available in the event of an Internet or power outage, or if your broadband, ISP, or RingCentral MVP service is terminated.
Please Note: It is strongly recommended that you have an alternative means for placing emergency calls available at all times.
