Protocols for using a computer for an exam or test:
Confirm OS requirements from your teachers, proctors, or Taft IT.
Confirm that you have Lockdown Browser installed and updated.
Ensure your device's operating system is up-to-date if required.
Please note that the latest version of macOS or Windows may not be supported. Check with Taft IT if you have a question.
Do not wait until the day of the exam to run these updates.
Student laptops should already have all applicable browser updates installed well before any exam; Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.

Completely close all open applications except those needed for the exam.
Just minimizing an application is not enough.
Students should restart their computers just prior to the exam.
Charge the device in advance of the assessment.
Disable any active VPN software.
Confirm that any parent/guardian disabled any parental control software.
Students should power down all extra wifi devices in their possession at the exam location (iPhones, iPads, etc).
