Being fair is an important part of being a school counselor. Providing students with an equal opportunity to discuss issues, being their confidant and giving them engaging and interesting instruction will help to build relationships and allow students to grow and become aware of their interests, concerns and become problem solvers. The first artifact for fairness is Legal Issues in Career Counseling because it is important for a counselor to display professionalism and know the legalities of the different situations one will encounter. It represents fairness with all stakeholders. The second, Using Normed, Valid, and Reliable Tests to Guide Decision Making, displays how assessment data can drive instruction and help individual student needs.

Promoting social justice and equity is an important part of being a school counselor. All students learn differently and have different needs. Therefore, recognizing the differences all students have and providing opportunities of diversity will create a better learning and social/emotional environment. Seeking to find ways that will help students grow as a whole person and/or a group provides fairness and will continue to exercise the use of data to help students in their own unique positions and situations.
