School counselors want all student to be able to have equal opportunities and excel with every opportunity they are given. The role and responsibility a school counselor has is to offer these opportunities and make sure students are given the resources to be the best they can be. The first artifact I chose for Advocacy is Becoming a Future School Counselor because it gives valuable information on how to advocate for students, their role with staff, community, and families. All of these people make up an important beneficial bond to help our students succeed. The second artifact, Addressing the Needs of All Students, explains how a school counseling program needs to be for everyone.
One way to advocate is to present information to the staff. In this newsletter I wrote on how to help a grieving student. It also presents pictures from Career Day and reviews what lessons were taught in Counselor that week.
As an SCIT, it is important to offer many opportunities for our students. Bringing in the community allows for the students and staff to know the resources that are available that can assist them in their time of need. Community involvement brings people together, offers opportunities, and displays a relationship amongst each other. It is the responsibility of the SCIT to lead and guide students in the right direction. Serving the student population in a variety of ways gives the students the ability to grow, to find their interests and become advocates for their own education, which can lead to a long-term success.

This is an organization we partner with that gives students an opportunity to learn a variety of topics. This particular presentation was for our 6th graders on Healthy Relationships.
