The subject of my realistic scratchboard drawing in a view of a snow covered Mt. Katahdin. I used scratchboard with scratching tools to make this black and white drawing and showed light in the amount that I scratched away. I used a scratchboard and different scratching tools such as a pick and a brush to make this scratchboard artwork. I chose this picture to base my project on because of the clear definition between the light and dark of the snow and mountain.
I used a metal brush in a lot of my artwork because it made it easier to cover some of the larger areas of the picture that were the same color. I chose to make some lines in my artwork to define the different objects that were displayed. There is an Island in the picture that didn’t show up because of the color changes and I used some light lines to show it.
I like this artwork because it is taken from my camp during the winter which is one of my favorite times to be up there and it also portrays how pretty that area is and how much I like being up there. I think I could have done a better job on my artwork in a couple of ways, for example I wish I had done the mountain differently to show the shape of it better as well as making the sky a bit darker to show the lightness of the snow.
