Pure Contour and Pattern

The subject of my drawing is three views of three different animals but the artwork focuses on the negative space in the drawing. When drawing the animals i used graphite and then darkened the lines with pen. For the negative space designs I used colored pencils. I chose these three specific animals because they are all animals of Maine and I wanted a Maine themed artwork. I also used mostly more natural colors such as green, brown, and black in my negative space.

One major technique showcased in my artwork is the use of contour lines as well as negative space to help amplify the lines. My project started as simple lines but I strengthened the lines and added designs and colors to the negative space.

The main meaning behind my project is themed behind Maine animals, I like this theme because I like being outside in Maine and enjoying the wildlife. I think I could correlate more of the colors to the specific animal that is in the drawing.
