Blind Contour

The blind contour is based off of three different topics that are all drawn using the same technique. One of the drawings is of my hand, another one is a self portrait, and the last one was drawing another person. For this project I used a sharpie for the initial drawing and colored it in with watercolor colored pencils. For the final stage I used watercolor paints for the background. The artwork was an assignment but I did enjoy it because it was exciting to almost to be surprised by what you made because I didn’t look at it as I drew it.

One technique is of course drawing blind but I also colored it in sections so that not of the colors touched the same colors which gave the drawing/painting a unique aspect that I couldn’t have done if it wasn’t a blind drawing and hade multiple lines going through it and made it out of different shapes. At first I was going to make the faces out of shapes that would stay the same for different parts such as the hair and cheeks but I realized it would be more unique with the multiple color/ shape method.

I think that the meaning behind this piece of artwork is that even if something didn’t come out the way you wanted it to, you can use your imagination and creativity to make it better. I think this relates to me because it represents how i do the same thing sometimes when I make a mistake or something doesn't turn out how I want it. I really like the way my project turned out but I wish I had colored darker so the colors were more solid.
