Oil Pastel

My oil pastel drawing was a color representation of a photo that I took of a sunset at the lake that my camp is on. I used oil pastels to create this drawing. I chose to use this photo because of the distinct colors that the sunrise consists of as well as the unique reflection on the lake and the blues of the sky. I created this drawing using 1x1 centimeter squares and individually blending colors in each squares.

The way I made this artwork is by blending the average color of each 1x1 centimeter square throughout the picture to show averaging of color. I started by adding the main color that was in each square and then adding black or white or whatever other color that original color needed to match what the average color is in that square. I was originally confused as to how I was blending and originally putting color into an entire row and then blending each square individually. What I changed to was adding color to each square and blending individually.

This is a picture that reminds me of many summer memories of summer time with my family at cap and I wanted to use this picture because of how much I like it. I wish that I had blended some of the colors differently, I am happy with how the blue came out but I wish that I had blended the orange and yellow with less black so they didn’t have a green fade to them.
