The Dance 1/25/19

My art was based on two different artist, Matisse and Mirò, and I mixed both of their art works and styles into one . It is the famous painting "The Dance" by Matisse and the art style of Mirò. For the art I used oil pastels to get more vibrant and violent colors. I chose these two artist because I enjoy both of their art styles. At first my project wasn't going to look like this at all. I though of drawing just a Mirò painting with bright colors because Matisse uses bright colors. But then I wanted to make it more interesting and added the famous painting that Matisse was criticized for. Then after finding it I though about only adding four of Miròs characters but then I ended up doing five to exactly replicate "The Dance". If I could change my art I would want to use different type of material like paint. It was hard to fill in small spots and made it difficult to fill in all the little positive spaces in the back.
