Wire Sculpture

This was a fun project that I had never done before. However, even though I had never made a wire sculpture before, I still had a fun time creating my turtle. My turtle was created by using an annealed wire that was easy to work with. It bent easily when using pliers and held shape after positioning it. I connected all of the wires together by using a fishhook connection that makes a strong a stable support that keeps the wire from sliding around or being too loose.

My inspiration for this project was a stuffed toy turtle that was surprisingly realistic. I was going to use something else before I remembered about the toy which fit the criteria for the project perfectly. It was around the size of my head and was something that I thought would be fun to replicate. By using the toy as a reference, I created the wire sculpture that was the same size. I only used a fishhook connection that was extremely strong. This kind of connection is created by making a tight hook on the end of the wire and connecting it to another wire by closing the loop. The sculpture used nothing but this connection and took a lot of extra time that I put into making it look as good as possible.

Even though there were a few complications, I still liked working on the project. Multiple times during the making of this project, I created connections that were too short or too long. This made it hard to make everything symmetrical throughout the entire sculpture. I still thought that it turned out great and looks like a real turtle, even though there are some improvements that I could have made if I had the time. However, I am very proud of this work of art and I wouldn't mind trying something like this again in the future.
