Zoomed Shoe

Giovanni 25 October, 2018

I made this drawing by zooming in on my already drawn shoe pictures. I zoomed in on one shoe drawing with a viewfinder (which is a piece of paper with a cut out rectangle that concentrates on a certain area) and drew what I saw into my new border. I then zoomed in on that drawing and did the same. I lastly did that step one more time and made my last drawing which only consists of a seam and part of the tongue (of my shoe). To make my abstract drawing I took my favorite zoomed and cropped image, and duplicated it. I copied that drawing (made it larger to fit on a bigger piece of paper) and started to add color to it to make it look abstract.

The tools I used to make this drawing was some colored pencils, and graphite as a guide. I used the graphite pencil (an H) to sketch out the main shape and used the colored pencils to add some color and variety to my drawing. I made sure I burnished my drawing (make the colored pencil lines dark; no white showing) and used some patterns of my own design. I also used my three zoomed and cropped shoes as reference to help me make my abstract drawing as realistic as possible to the other three.

I loved making the drawings and making one of them abstract. My only problem with my abstract zoomed shoe, is the fact that I left to much white on the paper. I should have made my drawing have 25% white and 75% color, instead I did the opposite. If I had more time I would have added a lot more color to my drawing and left less white. My other three drawings, the three zoomed and cropped shoes, I really love and thought that I did a great job with those. Next time I do a project like this, it would be fun to see the different parts of the shoe that I could zoom in on. I would love to do this zooming and cropping project again.
