These drawings are all examples of linear perspective. Linear perspective is a way of drawing objects that all converge on a horizon line or vanishing point. A vanishing point is the place where someone's eyes are focused, which is in the middle of the hallway on the wall or the area outside the door. In the linear perspective shapes drawing, the vanishing point is located on the horizon line, which is someone's eye level. Since there is no horizon line to use, both the hallway and the room use a vanishing point.
To make the room and 3D shape drawings I used a graphite pencil. I used graphite at first when working on the school hallway, but then inked it over and added some color. I made sure to burnish when using colored pencil; making sure that there was no white showing from under the color. A also used a straightedge for all three drawings to make sure that all of the lines were completely straight. A straightedge is any tool that has a straight edge and can be used as a guide when making lines. I used a ruler for these projects.
For the 3D shapes and the room there was only one thing that I wish I had, which was more time to work on them. But besides that, there are no complaints that I have with those two drawings. But for the hallway, there was one problem that I had with it. When I looked at the real hallway, I noticed that the border on the walls was a medium gray. I was always nervous about applying color because there is no way to remove that color. I tried to mix white and black to make a gray, but this failed. I went over the rest of the border in black and did not add any more white. This makes the border look a bit cloudy and odd. But besides that, I am proud of my drawing and hope that linear drawing will continue to be relevant in my artistic life.
