Spaces

The point of this fun project was to show both negative and positive space. Negative space is the space that is not occupied by the object. Positive space is the space that the object is occupying. This project was also drawn to show the change from light to dark. I used a graphite pencil to draw the entire thing, and I drew different designs to make some character in the drawing

I used darker marks with my pencil to make sure that my drawing was either black or white. So I did not shade my drawing, instead I blackened all the darker areas and left the lighter areas white. This makes the picture look like it is fading from black to white, left to right. I used a 4B graphite pencil to do this drawing. 4B pencils are dark and soft, so when one uses a 4B, the pencil makes dark lines. These dark lines are great for zentangle drawings, which need to be black and white and require no shading.

I made my own patterns and even used some of the ones that I have used in the past. I would, if I had more time, make this zentangle better by making it seem like it was fading more visibly. I would focus more on the fading than the patterns next time. This was fun to make because I love to make new patterns, so this project was one of my favorite projects so far.
