Blind Contour

My drawing started out as a blind contour drawing, which means that you concentrate at just looking at an object and then draw that object without looking at the drawing itself. I drew my hand and face and also drew another person's face all while using blind contour. I decided to keep those drawings but fill them in with some color and make them stand out more.

I used watercolor to make it seem smoother and not make it as bold. I made the background seem like mist was all around the figures in the middle. I wanted to make my picture seem like it was a person with two heads but realized that the way the heads were positioned would have made this idea not possible. I instead made it look like the too people are lost in the mist that has enveloped them. I added a few birds in the background to add some more depth to the picture. The addition of a bird shows that they must be near the ocean if seagulls are in view.

When I was drawing this I thought about how sometimes we dwell on the past and even what may happen in the future. My picture represents that it is not important to dwell on the past because you might get lost in it (the people in the mist are lost in their memories). Focus on the now and don't get caught up in the past or what you think will happen in the future.
