Sgraffito

Artist Statement- The main idea that guided my artwork was flowers and not just any flowers. I wanted to do something with vines and air plants. My first idea on scratchboard was a picture I took at Estabrooks in Yarmouth. It was a bowl of succulents. The materials I used for this were Scratchboard and a knife for carving that design. I also used clay for the finished product. The process I went through from the start to my finished product was starting on scratchboard with that finished design of succulents. Then I revised when I got to clay because I realized it would be way too complicated to copy that same design over onto my clay. So I changed my design too vines and stuck with that for the end outcome.
