"Hertica" school-house was completely built by its owner, Mehmet Aliu-Hertica.
2. “Hertica" school-house started operating as a school from 1992 to 1999.
3. There were about 1,500 students that attended the “Hertica” school-house.
4. The house had 12 rooms that served as classrooms, and each classroom held about 31 students.
5. The first school magazine was published by the students that attended this school. The magazine is called "Feniks".
6. Contrary to the conditions of economic expenses, Mehmet Aliu-Hertica, the owner of the school, for two consecutive years had paid all the professors and workers of this school.
7. The Serbian forces have continuously tried to close the school-house, but the main attacks were those of 1996, where a school janitor and a security guard were mistreated.
8. Despite the dangerous conditions, the school-house had also held "Prom Night" to entertain the students.
9. Many famous political figures attended this school: Uran Ismalji, Atifete Jahjaga, Liburn Aliu, etc.
10. In 1999, the Serbian forces attacked and burned down the school-house “Hertica”.
11. Azemine Aliu-Hertica, the daughter of the owner, has served as the cicerone of this monument since 2002. Azemine Aliu-Hertica has not been paid for this contribution.
12. Mehmet Aliu had also built a bunker in which the students would hide, in cases of attacks by the Serbian forces.
