Sandigans are student-led committees mandated to serve the ASHS Community through the cultivation of a socially aware and proactive community. Whether it be through various activities, initiatives, or projects; the current six (6) Sandigans each have a special advocacy that is given importance in raising awareness and encouraging the student body to be active in their individual advocacies.
VISION AND MISSION
Sandigan Idiyanale is the committee that stands for inclusivity under the Council of Student Committees. It centers around bringing a voice to the PWD and elderly sector in our community serving as a catalyst in expanding accessibility within the ASHS, while fighting the normalization of ableism in society. Through its initiatives and projects, Idiyanale aims to educate and expand the knowledge of the student body ensuring an all-inclusive environment that chooses kindness and love.
VISION AND MISSION
Idiyanale envisions a campus where inclusivity is ingrained in every facet, where accessibility is a fundamental right, and where diversity is celebrated as our strength. Through innovative projects, educational initiatives, and meaningful partnerships, we strive to make our school a beacon of empowerment, fostering an atmosphere where everyone thrives, learns, and grows together.
Idiyanale is committed to fostering an environment of inclusivity, accessibility, and diversity for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and Senior Citizens. As a dedicated student committee, we collaborate with organizations such as Best Buddies Philippines to lead the charge in breaking down barriers, raising awareness, and promoting equal opportunities within our campus and beyond.
Sandigan Kanlaon is a committee dedicated to promoting disaster readiness and risk reduction to foster a resilient environment in the ASHS community. Its name ‘Kanlaon’ came from the Kanlaon Volcano situated in the island of Negros, and is also coincidentally known as the god of time in Philippine Mythology. Disasters such as flooding and earthquakes will continue to prevail, but it is possible to prevent hazards from turning into disasters if time is used for due preparations and planning. Kanlaon stands by the school in working towards utilizing time to spread factual information and to take proactive steps for calamity-affected areas.
VISION AND MISSION
Kanlaon is the disaster resiliency student committee in the Ateneo de Manila Senior High School that envisions a disaster-resilient senior high community with each community member knowledgeable of the nature of hazards and of the proper response to different disaster scenarios. In the process, Kanlaon sees its commitment to duty as a step in building a disaster-resilient nation by equipping community members with the necessary tools to make their community outside the University disaster-resilient.
Kanlaon gives importance to the Atenean value of cura personalis, instilling in all sectors a sense of urgency, conscientiousness, and accountability when dealing with disasters. Empowering the community to be a person of the 5Cs, Kanlaon envisions to develop a safe community that is joined together towards a common goal: to become a disaster-ready and resilient community.
Kanlaon aims to cultivate a culture of preparedness and resiliency by propagating critical information about hazards and disasters, organizing community emergency drills, generating emergency plans for various school events, and responding to calls for action to calamity-inflicted areas. All these action steps are done through observing scientific and socio-cultural approaches to understanding disaster, implementing effective programs on disaster risk reduction, and collaborating with the school administration and other organizations to further the committee’s vision.
By drawing attention to the subject of disaster risk and reduction in such a highly exposed and vulnerable country like the Philippines, Kanlaon aims to create an environment that preserves the value of being persons-for-others, battles the common stigma of apathy, and fosters awareness and responsibility.
The Lakambini Committee is the committee dedicated to promoting and cultivating a culture of gender sensitivity and awareness, built on the principle of intersectionality, or the acknowledgment of the complex realities and identities of every individual that facilitate unique forms of oppression and discrimination. Under the Sandigan branch of the Council of Student Committees (CSC), Lakambini is a student-run committee that facilitates projects, organizes events, and provides collaboration outlets for the student body to participate in the advocacy of equality and work for change inside and outside the campus.
VISION AND MISSION
Lakambini envisions the emergence of a new culture wherein the voice of every individual would be heard, a culture wherein no one would be subjected to the predicaments of issues such as gender inequality and apathy regarding such concerns, and a culture wherein each individual can speak up for those who cannot do so for themselves and enliven the values of dignity, self-discipline, mutual respect, and compassion.
The committee adheres faithfully to the Atenean values instilled into each member of the community, carefully and steadfastly lodging each of us into the life of servant-leadership, committing to be a person for others - always for the greater glory of God.
It is the mission of Lakambini to perpetuate the value of equality amongst genders, employed through the thrust for student engagement in relation to pressing social issues and injustice, and the thrust for women empowerment, in the hopes that it will lead to the benefit of all.
The Sandigan aims to push for an intersectional approach to the movement towards gender equality. Lakambini campaigns for the rights of the people, as women’s issues, gender-based issues and people’s issues are closely intertwined and inseparable.
We aim to develop a community built on the desire to spearhead change in order to progress as a whole, to sustain an environment that strengthens the resolve of individuals to stand for what is right and to value fairness and freedom above all.
The Mapulon committee, with its name deriving from the ancient mythological Filipino god of seasons and good health, is steadfast and dedicated to its goal of advocating the health and wellness of an individual. Under the Sandigan branch of the Council of Student Committees (CSC), Mapulon is a student-run committee that facilitates projects, organizes events, and provides collaboration outlets for the student body to participate in the advocacy of health.
VISION AND MISSION
The Sandigan Mapulon envisions an Ateneo Senior High School that upholds the Ignatian maxim of Cura Personalis, wanting to cultivate a culture that positively encourages caring for the whole person. It envisions a community that values the health and well-being of students, championing it as something to treasure and care for in order to foster a positive environment where individuals can work on themselves first to ensure quality work with others.
Mapulon stands to promote mental and physical health through advocacies that raise awareness and instill the value of optimal well-being in all aspects. It aims to be the platform of support and care for individuals who find themselves unable to fully care for their own persons.
Sandigan Matanglawin is an organization under the ASHS dedicated to promoting awareness and action, championing environmental sustainability. Our organization urges the student body to join us in our advocacy as stewards of creation, through the projects and activities we implement. Aligned with our core thrusts of kabutihan (altruism), katapangan (bravery), kaisahan (community), kalikasan (environmentalism), and matanglawin (vigilance), we aim to empower the community with platforms to address the environmental crises around the globe and promote lasting, positive change.
VISION AND MISSION
Sandigan Matanglawin seeks to establish the Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) as a dynamic and well-informed body of advocates for environmental sustainability. The committee envisions the ASHS community as a group of people who choose to embrace their roles as stewards of creation, act with solidarity to protect the environment, and promote the committee’s values within and beyond the ASHS.
To respond to the ever-growing issues concerned with the state of the environment and to encourage environmental awareness by starting with the members of the ASHS. This is done by providing them with opportunities to directly participate in projects that contribute to Sandigan Matanglawin’s advocacy. The committee works to form a sense of urgency in the ASHS regarding environmental care by offering platforms for the community to act upon that urgency and initiate positive and sustainable change.
