The STEM strand of the Ateneo de Manila Senior High School is a program that intends to prepare students for studies in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Guided by its motto, “Siklab STEM,” those in STEM continually grow into sparks of discovery and radical change as they challenge the status quo. Equipped with critical thinking skills, innovative mindsets, and unceasing passion, STEM prompts students to ignite blazes synonymous with fiery courage. It invites them to continue embodying Siklab in whichever path they take. Above all, the strand is modeled to be a home for its students — one that allows them to find excellence in action, uphold strand core values, and become trailblazers of progressive movements. Dahil sa Siklab STEM, patuloy ang paglaban; patuloy ang pagsiklab, always in unceasing love and service.
The STEM Council, consisting of the STEM Core and STEM Class Officers are the active representatives of the STEM strand who will champion students’ rights and well-being, serve as the bridge between the STEM student body and the school administration, and organize class and strand-wide initiatives. The council shall aim to create an inclusive and active environment filled with involvement opportunities open to everyone, while simultaneously training its representatives to be efficient and compassionate servant-leaders.
Mission
The STEM Council, with the class officers and strand projects committee, shall serve as the active representatives of the STEM strand who will champion students’ rights and well-being, and serve as the bridge between the STEM student body and the school administration. The council shall aim to create an inclusive and active environment filled with involvement opportunities open to everyone, whilst simultaneously training its representatives to be efficient and compassionate servant-leaders.
Vision
The STEM Council aims to empower servant-leaders who adhere to the ACO-SHS thrust: “Huwag Magsasawang Maglingkod.” It envisions itself to be an avenue where servant-leaders can freely collaborate in creating beneficial and transformative projects for the STEM student body. The council aspires to help pave the way for STEM students to develop their potential, to aid in their holistic growth and development, and to equip them with the competencies needed for the development of their nation.
Being a STEM student means belonging to a diverse home. STEM is more than a community bound together by math and science-related careers. We are talented people with common yet multifaceted personalities united in making a difference.
STEM pushes its students to be critical thinkers and driven pioneers who innovate new ideas for societal development. We leverage our scientific, mathematical, and technical abilities to have a more holistic view of the society we live in.
STEM is an ever-expanding field of knowledge with new things to constantly discover. Being open-minded allows students to accept and interpret new ideas and seek to challenge the status quo in their communities.
STEM teaches its students to become problem solvers who can utilize their resources to tackle existing problems. Being resourceful pushes students to be adaptable in any situation, strengthening each individual’s tenacity. We constantly seize the nights ahead of us—always in unceasing love and service.
