The Humanities and Social Sciences strand is the melting pot of passion, social justice, and love for the community. As we delve into the various concepts of humanity and further understand our society, the HumSS strand hopes to bring out the humanista in each student. We are humanistas who care about the development of our society just as much as we care about each other. The HumSS strand hopes to become a beacon of hope for social justice and change not only to the ASHS but to the people around us. Being humanistas, let’s create a stronger bond and find each other, especially through the difficult times. Through our strand thrust, Husay HumSS, the HumSS strand hopes to see its students carry out their kahusayan proudly wherever they go.
The Humanities and Social Sciences Council, shall serve as the active representatives of the students from the HumSS Strand who will champion the students’ rights and well-being and serve as the bridge between the students and the Assembly of Class Officers.
The Humanities and Social Sciences Council hopes to see a strand proud of its identity. Through the council, we aim to see students embracing their strand identity and what makes us uniquely HumSS. Lastly, the HumSS Council hopes to see the students proudly live up to “Husay HumSS”.
Humanistas are known for being headstrong individuals that overcome obstacles no matter how strenuous, reach for challenging new heights no matter how much they are discouraged, and speak up for causes that others would not dare speak of. Being headstrong is a core HumSS value because it takes courage and determination to be a participating member in society that advocates for social justi
Aligned with the HumSS Council’s theme of Discovery, unearthing is a HumSS core value that involves understanding one’s environment and oneself. Unearthing our truths cannot be done through one straight path rather multiple long and rigid ones, similar to our journey through Senior High School. In the ASHS, we get to know ourselves better and our society even more because only through learning can we clearly see the reality of our situation and the people around us.
For humanistas who plan to serve the ASHS community, a lesson that will help you decide on what endeavors to partake in is to remember how sincerity is the heart of service. It is a HumSS core value because of the magnetic and headstrong nature humanistas are known for being. Sometimes, this may cause us to embark on journeys we might not even genuinely care for. To avoid this, we must remember that in all that we do and all that we are destined to pursue, it is important to remain sincere about the choices we make and the possible careers we might take.
Despite being the smallest strand of students, Humanistas are known for their magnetic nature and personalities. Being magnetic is a HumSS core value because through the unique ways we choose to express and present ourselves, we are able to bend societal norms and introduce change in a gradual and approachable manner. Our magnetic nature is sometimes used as a platform to showcase different views and opinions all throughout the ASHS.
Humanistas take great pride in their strand and are spirited in the sense that HumSS allows them to continuously grow as a student and as a participating member in society. A lot of humanistas come from different backgrounds which is why being spirited is another HumSS core value as it serves as a leveling ground that connects everyone to each other. Some humanistas use HumSS as a source of inspiration to advocate for organizations and causes that foster positive changes in society and the ASHS community.
