Niskayuna's Football Season

Ningning Ying

This year’s football season has been unlike any other. Due to the pandemic, the football season was quite unprecedented. This season, even more so, but in a good way. So far, the team came back this year with an impressive series of wins against Bethlehem, Columbia, Ballston Spa, Binghamton, and South Glens falls. I was able to ask two of the varsity captains, Daniel Quinn and Thomas Titsworth, about their thoughts regarding the season.

Ningning Ying: What do you think made this season so successful?

Daniel Quinn: I think our success has primarily been due to our placements of athletes where we need them, we've got playmakers all over the field and that's what makes us so versatile.

Thomas Titsworth: I think what has made this season so successful is the confidence in ourselves. We go into every game thinking we should win, that hasn’t been the case in past years.

NNY: What was your best/most memorable moment from this season?

DQ: I think the most memorable moment thus far is our home opener against Columbia, first home game at Niskayuna in over a year, and the atmosphere was just electric, obviously getting the W that night was a big part of it as well.

TT: The best moment so far this season has been getting revenge on Columbia. Last year we lost to them 25-0 and we came back this year and beat them 28-6. It felt great to get revenge on them.

NNY: Any additional thoughts that you'd like to include?

DQ: I'd just like to add the fact that a lot of students here at the HS are missing out on not being a part of the program. We really create a unified family here at Niskayuna football, and the bonds you create on the gridiron will truly last forever.
