MICROSOFT TRANSLATOR

From the Desk of Yolanda Fioriello, Parent Coordinator, P.S./I. S. 192.

Microsoft Translator is a new application from Microsoft that allows you to translate words and conversations on your phone. There are ways to use this program on a smart board and or your computer. As an app, it is a free download from either the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. The icon for the program looks like this:

After you start a new account the screen will look like this:

Tap the book on the bottom to select your language and that of whomever you are speaking to. And that’s it! You are now ready to begin translating. Either press the typewriter to translate words on the screen itself or hold the microphone to speak a word or phrase. You can also click on the picture of two heads to translate a back and forth conversation. If you allow the app access to the camera, you can use it to translate small documents.

This app is very user friendly, easy to use, and most importantly, fairly accurate. In fact, it is much more accurate than Google Translate. I hope you all found this helpful.
