At P.S. 128 along with P.S. 100, we have partnered with the Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island to bring free Adult English classes to our families and community. Invitations to these classes, are translated into nine different languages and sent home to families in their native language. Prior to the class participants are requested to contact us to schedule an English proficiency evaluation. The classes are three hours in duration held twice weekly for approximately eight to nine months dependent upon funding. Participants receive a workbook which they can use at home to review the lessons given in class. Upon completion of the course we host an International Potluck Celebration where participants receive a Certificate of Participation.

Participation in this program has yielded many positive results namely: increasing communication with teachers and school staff, interaction with other parents, attending school functions and workshops, and job placement. It is our intention to host this class every school year as long as funding allows.
