Our thanks to Alex, Cyn (and the girls) as well as the Christmas tree team for all their hard work at the weekend, sorting, hefting trees and sweeping up enough pine needles to last the season. We hope everyone enjoys their trees.
By now, the reindeer are going back in their stable, Father Christmas has his feet up and the elves should be finished packing away the remnants of the Christmas Fair. We are so grateful to Years 1 and 5 for working so hard to bring the joy of Christmas to the children yet again, but also to all those who donated toys, books, time and energy to the event. A special word of thanks to the pupils of Year 6 who came up with their own ideas and put them into action to add to the fun.
What a lovely end to the PTA event calendar for 2022.
Wishing you all peace, joy, and love, this Christmas.
The PTA Committee
P.S We don't think you need to hear from us again before Christmas so we will skip next week and focus all our attention on our update in the new year!
The elves have been busy again this week ....
Christmas trees will be ready for collection tomorrow (Saturday 3rd) from the school playground. We hope to have them ready to collect from midday but we will send confirmation via tickettailor email in the morning.
We are also now open for donations to the fair, so make space in your home for the coming season by giving us your no longer used books and toys for redistribution at the fair. Donations can be dropped off either to the Christmas tree playground on Saturday or at drop-off or pick-up at the school every day next week.
Raffle tickets hopefully arrived home in bags - if you want to take part please fill in and return the stubs by Monday 5th. Either pay in cash with the returned stubs in an envelope or online at https://buytickets.at/ptastmichaels/800746
The Christmas Fair will be next Friday unbelievably! Games have been prepared, gingerbread is baking across Southfields, and gluesticks are at the ready for Christmas crafts. Snowballs will be thrown, Santa will give gifts, and Mr. Rochford will oversee a seasonal obstacle course! If you haven't paid yet, the link is still open at https://buytickets.at/ptastmichaels/800750
And that's all the news for now - have a great weekend everyone,
The PTA Committee
t's been a wet and windy one this week, and we are hoping that it hasn't affected today's cake sale, prepared and hosted by opposite ends of the school journey - Year 6 and Mini-Mike's. Last one for Year 6 and hopefully first of many for Mini-Mike's. Many thanks to everyone involved.
We held our first ordinary meeting of the PTA earlier this week and we would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed.
Christmas is well and truly here now with our first mufti day kicking off the season (apologies for football reference). Plans are well underway for the Fair, with energy and enthusiasm coming from the grown ups of Years 1 and 5, and the students of Year 6 adding some sparkle of their own.... we can't wait to see it all come together. The Christmas Fair is a day of fun intended for all pupils and no tickets are needed for entry but you can contribute to the fair and mufti days via the link https://www.tickettailor.com/events/ptastmichaels/800750
Look out for raffle tickets coming home in school bags over the next week. There are separate raffles for adults and children and we have some great prizes in the mix. If you want to take part then please pay for tickets either by returning cash with ticket stubs in envelopes to the school, or, by going to tickettailor https://www.tickettailor.com/events/ptastmichaels/800746 but do remember to return your ticket stubs to the school in an envelope (not doing so will seriously reduce your chance of winning).
Have a wonderful weekend everyone,
The PTA Committee
We are well on the way to Christmas and all the associated festivities - watch out for our newsletter with all the details coming out soon, raffle tickets arriving home and mufti days starting next Friday, as well as our exciting Christmas Fair on the 9th (shh...rumour has it Father Christmas himself will be dropping by). Don't forget that orders for Christmas trees will close at midday on Friday 25th November.
Rather than bombard you with info, dates and links almost every day we've put together a Christmas page on the website where you can quickly find everything you need (don't worry - we will probably still bombard you just for fun).
We also have a virtual PTA meeting on Tuesday 22nd November (next Tuesday) at 7.30pm. Details on how to join will be sent out separately but mark it in the diary now. All members are welcome to join, take part, and give their opinions,, and we are all members, so get involved. Our community is made strong by the people who give.
"A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.”(Maya Angelou)
Wishing you all a restorative weekend and a good week ahead,
Your PTA committee
We were thrilled by the fantastic fireworks on Saturday - a truly spectacular show! As always, the PTA wants everyone to enjoy events safely, and, while we already follow HSE guidance on holding fireworks displays, we will continue to review our procedures to ensure the continued enjoyment of the display. It is an absolute highlight (!) of the PTA year and so much work is involved behind the scenes which we really appreciate.
We are especially grateful to all the people who made it all come together on the day/ night so thank you to all the Year 4 volunteers, building gazebos in the rain, serving out the stickiest of donuts and well loved Franklands hotdogs, the amazing fireworks team lighting up the skies and marshals keeping us in line. As with all things PTA, there are too many people involved to list them all but a few names deserve a special mention - the Year 4 reps, Greg, Myco and Sally, our fireworks lead, Chris Pillings, (and Steve Voss who kindly popped back to assist), Leisha who cooked the sausages as only a professional could, AMG for her stalwart duty as bouncer, and...there was some woman, said her name was Rachael....seemed to be everywhere...Our thanks to you all.
The PTA website has finally had some new faces added to its pages and also provides lots of information about what we do and when it is happening so do take a quick look https://sites.google.com/stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.uk/stmichaelsptasite If you have any suggestions or ideas do get in touch with us at pta@stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.uk
Have a great weekend,
PTA committee
P.S. No, it's not a mistake - I decided not to mention the season that is almost upon us - you all know it's coming...
We've had a busy start to the second half of the term with new committee members trying to get to grips with all things PTA, but all with positive results.
We are looking forward to a fantastic fireworks display tomorrow, organised and hosted by Year 4 who have been so generous with their time and meticulous in their planning. The only thing we can't plan is the weather, so make sure you wrap up and get the wellies out - a wet field becomes a muddy one quickly with the number of spectators we are expecting!
And, .....it's beginning to look at a lot like....I'm afraid so,.... planning is well underway for the fair, dates for Mufti-days were in the PTA Autumn newsletter and...Christmas trees are also now on sale from tickettailor https://buytickets.at/ptastmichaels/784479 This not only raises money for our school, it also gives you the opportunity to get a fantastic tree at a really good price, ready for collection locally on the 3rd December! We are keeping our margins the same as last year so measure your ceiling heights and get booking as we are confident our prices won't be beaten elsewhere. Order by 25th November.
We are also open for prize donations for the Christmas Raffles so if you have anything you can offer or know of local businesses that might like to help please get in touch with Jemima at ptasponsorship@stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.uk
