Welcome to the third and final newsletter ahead of our summer fete in just nine days’ time! Grab a cuppa, or an ice cream, relax and read on!
The fete is nearly here! Given the change in the Governments roadmap plans this week, we thought it important we update you on our Covid plans. In addition, there are some other reminders to ensure you make the most of your day at the beach!
COVID Update
As we have previously advised, our fete is a Stage 2 permitted event so were not dependent on the easing of final restrictions. However, we will need to adhere to the current COVID guidelines on the day. To ensure our fete is compliant and as safe as possible, we are doing the following things:
Moving the tea pavilion onto the veranda (outside) and operating a one-way system for service
Moving the access for toilets to the rear of the pavilion (follow the path on the RHS side of the pavillon)
Placing a sanitisation station on each corner of the inner square of stalls
Counting people entering and leaving the field
Monitoring stall queues and suggesting alternatives to those waiting
Supplying masks for anyone who would like one (not required when outside, personal choice)
Sanitising tables, games, and inflatables regularly and providing hand gel or wipes as appropriate at each stall
What we need from you!
To keep our community as safe as possible, we ask you do the following:
Maintain 1m plus distance from those outside your family bubble
Wear a mask if entering the toilet area (unless exempt)
Regularly sanitise your hands and those of any little ones with you
Remind your children to sanitise their hands before enjoying any of the games or inflatables
Minimise handling of items for sale where possible
Stay home if you or anyone in your family has tested positive for or displaying symptoms of Covid-19 or you have been asked to self-isolate
Dispose of rubbish in the bins provided
Not move any seats or hay bales as they have been purposely placed to maintain distancing
Don’t sing along with or shout out at any performers. However please clap loudly!
Entry tickets, Brochures and Tokens
Entry to the fete is free for all St Michaels families and we will be sending home a copy of the brochure and entry tickets to all families next Friday. For anyone who has pre-ordered tokens and wrist bands, these will be sent home with your brochure (with the oldest child in your family unless your order form is different).
Don’t forget your tickets, tokens, wrist bands and smiles on the day!
The Park Tavern Afterparty is an important part of the fete as it allows us to relax, reflect on what we hope was an amazing day and celebrate that it’s 365 days until we do it all again!! Due to COVID requirements, we need to have exact numbers so can’t accommodate drop ins on the night. We will be sitting on tables of 6 in a designated area of the garden so if coming with friends, grab a table with them. Coming solo or as a couple, never fear, you won’t be alone and will have the chance to meet some new people. The most important thing is you register – either buy a ticket which includes a burger and small drink via ticket tailor or if you just want drinks and/or to order from the larger Park Tavern menu, via the survey monkey (links below). We need to confirm numbers Monday 21st June so don’t delay and miss out!
Donations and the Big Sort
To allow more space and ease of both sorting and delivering, we have moved the big sort to the church field. Please drop all donations just inside the large gate of the field on the morning of the 25th. Tables will be set out and please, if able, pre-sort into the relevant areas.
To recap, we would love any donations of the following:
Toys including soft toys
Children’s and adult’s books
Children’s and adult’s clothing (in good condition please. Anything which is not suitable to be resold, we have arranged a Bag2School collection on July 8 so please hold until then)
Tombola prizes (great idea for regifting!)
Bric-a-brac
For those who are crafting and baking for our home produce stall and tea pavillon, please bring those goodies to the field Saturday morning or with you to the fete.
Raffle Tickets & Volunteering
Please return all stubbs, money and unsold raffle tickets to school by this Friday (18/6). Additional tickets will be available to purchase from the Church café this week, on the day or please let us know and we’ll get tickets to you.

And don't forget to sign up to volunteer on the day - link from your class reps. We are still short of volunteers in a few areas. Please please please sign up for a shift if you are able. We need all hands-on deck to ensure it is a fabulous beach party!
See you on the 26th!
