Welcome back and hello sunshine! We are just 3 WEEKS away from our Summer Fete Beach party. We are so excited and we really need all hands to the deck / beach now, to make our fete the amazingly special day that it is.
Your fete reminders this week are:
Please sign up to a shift for the fete (this evening if possible but definitely this week). The shifts only cover half the fete, so you can enjoy the other half with your children / family. If you have more than one child at the school, please can each parent sign up for a shift. If you're parenting solo that weekend - please buddy with a friend, so you dop a shift while they have the children and then visa versa. We want to run all the amazing stalls we have planned - but to make them safe and fun - we really need all the shifts to be filled, so please sign up here:
Mufti day this Friday 11th June (also Friday 18th and Friday 25th June). Please pay for all three mufti days on our ticket tailor page. It is £1 per day per child, so we ask for £3 per child to cover all three days.
The ticket tailor site is live and ready for you to pre-order tokens, wrist bands for unlimited inflatable turns, and tickets for the after party. All the party info and details are in the narrative on the ticket tailor page.
Please buy or send back your raffle tickets by Friday 18th June - we will resell any unused tickets. The PTA Committee will be in the church cafe on Friday after drop off, with card machines, if it's easier for you to pay this way.
We have plenty of jam jars now - thank for to everyone who has donated.
Please hold on to all your donations until Friday 25th June for the Big Sort. We have nowhere to store donations before the big sort.
On to non-fete matters:
Members of the PTA cttee will be in the cafe this Friday after drop-off if you'd like to say hello, ask anything, or pay for your raffle tickets.
Class Rep Co-ordinator Rosie Hyde is standing down at the end of this term and we are looking for a replacement to take up the reigns for a 2 year term starting in September. This is a key role which involves supporting & communicating with the class-reps across all year groups, supporting and co-ordinating with the PTA cttee and at times with the school. It would be ideal to have experience as a class rep. If you are interested in finding out more, with no commitment at all, please contact Rosie at rosiehyde@hotmail.com
The Summer Fete:
We are delighted to report we now have stall leads for the plant stall, the bric-a-brac stall, and the henna tattoo stand. Thank you SO much to the volunteers.
Your fete reminder this week is:
if you are lateral flow testing and don't use the plastic bags, or have any other coin size plastic bags, please save them for the fete which is going to be cashless this year. They will be great for bagging up tokens which can be ordered in advance and bought on the day.
New Nursery children
If you or anyone you know has a child starting St. Mike's reception in September and would like to join the what's app group to meet other parents / children or ask any informal queries or questions you have ahead of starting, please email the PTA on pta@stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.uk.
Coffee?
If you fancy a coffee, the church cafe opens from Monday 8:30-11:30am each weekday, and members of the PTA cttee will be there on Friday if you'd like a chat about anything PTA or fete related, or you'd like to drop off any plastic bags for coins you've collected (all other fete donations will be dropped off on the Friday 25th June)
The WWU is here:
Have a great week,
The PTA Committee x
Thanks to everyone who came to the PTA meeting on Tuesday. We so appreciate your interest and enthusiasm.
We are just 7 weeks away from our Summer Fete! Your action points this week are:
Would you volunteer to lead a stall?
Are you a keen gardener or love plants and would like to lead the plant stall? This is an ideal job for two so grab a mate and raise your hands or ask us for more info. We promise a brilliant hand over from David, our plant stall legend to the successful volunteers too.
Or if homewares and interior design is more your forte, then we'd love you to lead our bric-a-brac stall. You would need to be available on Friday 25th June morning for the big sort, and to set up and cover the first shift on the day, say 11am to 2pm, so please let us know if you are interested.
But if beauty and painting is your sweet spot, then please let us know as we'd love you to lead the henna tattoo stand.
If you can do any of these roles, please get in touch: pta@stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.uk. Thank you in advance!
Also - please have a sort / declutter at home, and start preparing donations for the following stalls:
toys
soft toys for Adopt a Teddy
bric-a-brac
second hand clothing - adults and children
books
tombola
A great way to use up all those Chrissy presents lurking at the back of the cupboard! We'll be collecting these donations on Friday 25th June.
The raffle will be back this year - so please do let the PTA or your class rep know if you can donate a prize to the raffle. You'll be able to donate these the week before the fete.
Please start collecting jam jars for our jam makers - info to follow as to how to pass these on
The WWU is here. Have a great week!
The Race Against the World results are in and they are incredible - medals all round and a huge amount of money raised.
PTA Meeting - this Tuesday 4 May from 7.30-8.30pm on Zoom. We would love to see you.

The countdown is on to the Summer Fete! We are off to the beach and we are SO excited!
We hope you enjoy the film being shared on class what's app groups this evening. We're aware that so many new families have joined our school since June 2019 who may not know quite what a special community event our summer fete is. We hope this whets your appetite - we are SO excited to see all those smiling faces again IN PERSON! this year - what a celebration and coming together it will be, after so much time apart.
A link to the film is here
Two fete reminders this week
D & G advertising boards - if you didn't have one at Christmas but are happy to or you can't host one this time or you've moved but are happy to advertise our fete in your new front yard - please email Sarah and provide the relevant details - sarahward2804@yahoo.co.uk
Brochure Advertising - we are drawing up lists and getting read to source advertisers for our fete brochure and general fete sponsorship. If you own a business and would like to be part of our amazing brochure and fete or work for someone who would, then please email Emilie ptasponsorship@stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.uk
And keep checking the Summer Fete page on this website for more updates.
Only a couple of things to note from us this week:
If you have any questions or feedback about home learning, now we are three weeks in, or otherwise, please give these to your class reps who will compile them for the SLT Coffee Zooms. Ideally, please give your questions to your class reps this evening, but by Mon 25th Jan at 7:30pm latest please. Coffee Zooms are Tues 26th Jan, 1pm for EYFS and Lower phase and 2pm for Middle & Upper Phases.
We are super excited to launch the PTA Winter Disco with an energetic dance video!
Link for tickets here. This is not a key fundraiser, however we do want to cover our costs, so are asking for a £2 donation per pupil.
Huge thanks from us all to Cora, Priya, Elaine, Charlotte & Rachel for a truly magical Christmas fair on Friday. The children LOVED it. A whole day of fun including snow ball fights, Santa dash, disco trampolines, class room games and 45 mins in the hall with crafts, games and treats. Thank you for your vision and incredibly hard work to plan, lead and implement this wonderful event.
These events are always a team event, so big thanks also to all the volunteers on the day, the classes prepping, baking and making, year 1, the video teams, those sending in books & toys, the staff, Rach - our very own Queen of Christmas and everyone who contributed in every way. It was a wonderful Christmas moment for the children - thank you all.
You can see some photos of the day on our dedicated Instagram account.
Cookbooks - coming home on Monday!
Class Parties - on Tuesday
Friday - end of term Google Meets for parents (see your Parentmail), and the day the day will finish with carol singing in the playground before staggered collections (earlier than usual, see below)

With our thanks and appreciation to everyone this term for all the ways in which everyone has contributed to the PTA and our school community spirit in a challenging term.
Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas.

Donations for the fair will be collected at drop off and pick up Monday and Tuesday only. No soft toys, and primary aged toys/books only please.
Drop off any craft or biscuits you have kindly made as per your rep's instructions
Thanks so much to those who have already volunteered to help at the fair. We are in the process of checking numbers and will revert Mon with an update. If you would like to volunteer, please email pta@stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.uk
If you haven't paid for the Christmas fair and are able to do so, please do so here. Also if you would usually have bought some raffle tickets, please consider making a "pay it forwards" donation. All children will be going to the fair and no one is checking tickets - but we know we have an amazingly generous parent community.
Things to remember for Friday!
Packed lunches (ALL pupils) - no nuts please
A pair of gloves (for the snowball fight)
A bag (for the goodies in the hall)
A festive jumper to be worn over school uniform (it's Save The Children's National Christmas Jumper Day)
A Santa hat to participate in Mr Fink's obstacle course/the National School Games Santa Dash
Thanks to everyone who bought trees and for collecting them as arranged yesterday. We sold a record breaking 181 which was brilliant and had a blast seeing them off to their Christmas homes. Thanks to Alex and Cyn Lee Pan and their team of helpers for running such a smooth collection process. All the photos from the day can be seen here.
...are coming home on Tuesday

Hurrah that school is open - and we are thinking of the bubbles who are re-joining later this week - hang in there.
Sales close 9:30am Monday. Please do buy one HERE (a bargain at just £8) and enjoy cooking your child's friends' recipes even if you haven't been able to contribute. Also a thoughtful gift for grandparents, godparents and friends.
Mufti day this Friday. Cost £3 for all mufti days. Please pay here (or contact your class reps if you'd rather pay cash).
Please buy your child's ticket for the Christmas fair if you can. These are £5 but the children will have double the amount of time in the school hall this year (in their bubbles) and a whole day of activities. We are not checking who has bought tickets and no child will be excluded. However, we know that we have an incredibly generous parent community who want to contribute. You will also have realised we're not selling raffle tickets this year - so if you are able or are a family who would usually have bought a book or two of raffle tickets - please would you consider making a "pay it forwards" donation to cover the ticket of someone who can't buy it this year. You can pay for your child's Christmas Fair ticket here
10 second film for the Christmas fair As we can’t be a part of the Christmas fair in person we are hoping to get our families involved virtually. We are putting together a short showreel with a film for each ‘bubble’ that will be screened at the fair. And so we ask you to send in a very short video for each of your children:
Film rules:
Videos shouldbe child specific – no cross video bubbling per child!
It should feature someone in the family e.g. parent grandparent, cousin, great uncle max…
10 seconds max per child
Film it on any device
Film in landscape mode
No music
Make it fun
Seasons greeting or Christmas greeting to the child
Absolute deadline is 4th December
When your film is ready please send it to: Rebecca_wm@icloud.com and in your email please state the class of your child/children
Please see further down this page for the message sent out on Friday (it's the first item under the black 'Archived Updates' line)
Collection on Saturday morning. Watch your email for notification confirming time when they have arrived.
Please watch this short video to see PTA Co-Chair Naomi explains how easyfundraising works. The clue is in the name!
As this is the time when everyone will be online spending their pennies for Christmas we wanted to let you know that, if you sign up to Easy Fundraising you will be raising money for the school by simply shopping!
It really is completely effortless once you have signed up. Watch our 3 min tutorial above.
Join over 1.8 million people raising free donations at over 4,000 shops and sites every day the easyfundraising way! Over £30 million has already been raised for good causes.

One sleep to advent calendar opening!
The PTA Committee x
With the closure of school this week and so much happening on the home front, we decided against sending further information out about the fair. We thought everyone has enough to deal with and to manage! We also wanted to see how the lockdown period has gone and what the likely restrictions will be like post Dec 2.
However with the week now becoming a memory and the news that, for most of us, school is reopening on Monday, we wanted to provide an update of plans and where we are.
This morning, we have sent a detailed plan to the school outlining how we will run the actual day with regard to covid protections and safety. We will share this with you early next week once the SLT have all had the chance to review it. This outlines both how we will be maintaining cleaning standards during the day, keeping interaction to a minimum and how we will be protecting those who are happy to volunteer. The initial feedback has been very positive and both the school and PTA committee / year one reps remain committed to giving a wonderful day of fun on the 11th.
As per the previous Parentmail sent, the fair will offer children three areas of entertainment. The hall will be set up mostly as per previous years with lots of craft activities and games to play plus the secondhand toys and book stalls. Outside there will be four areas - the snowball fight is back and we have purchase a second snow machine and lots of snow foam for all classes to enjoy, the front playground will be an obstacle course for all to enjoy and the Muga will be a Christmas disco area with trampettes, lots of cheer and dancing. We will also have the grotto open for the younger years for story telling and photos.
Santa will visit each class with a present for every child. The classes will also be given activity packs and a video to watch / story to tell about Christmas around the world.
The fair will open at 9:30am and close at 2:45pm so all children will enjoy a longer day of fun this year with double the time in the hall compared to previous years.
So we hope this provides a good idea of what will be happening on the day and an outline of the fun our children will experience.
We are looking for parental help both before and during the fair and thank those that have already volunteered. One idea we have is to play messages from both home and abroad in the hall, wishing the children a happy Christmas. If the public can't come to them in person, we'd love to have some festive cheer on the big screen. So if you are able to, please send in a video from yourselves or family and friends as per below.
Many thanks

We are all so sad that the school is physically closed this week. This is not the news that any of us wanted to hear nor that the SLT and staff wanted to give. We appreciate just how challenging home-schooling is for us all. We remain the PTA, especially in these sad circumstances, working together for the good of our children. The SLT and staff have been working incredibly hard over the weekend to put together learning for all the children on Monday. The parent prayer group are very much in action praying for health for children and teachers and for us all as we face this challenging week. We will all be doing the best we can this week, whatever that may look like, and we know that we are all rooting for each-other and that as classes we'll be helping each other out with tech and resources questions where-ever we can. Just 2 reminders today:
There are 24 hours left to submit recipes. Deadline is 5pm Monday 23rd Nov. Year 2 are printing the correct number of books so please place your orders below - deadline is this Friday 27th November. Click HERE for all the information you need.

The final deadline for submitting recipes is Mon 23rd November. Please do join in and be part of this one-off St. Mike's Cookbook. Thanks so much to year 2 reps and team for cutting right back on their editing time. We want to have the books in good time for Christmas gifts (which we will) so this is the final deadline. These are selling brilliantly. Please order and spread the word HERE.
Mufti Days - Friday 20 November, Friday 27 November, Friday 4 December.
We are continuing the tradition of three Mufti Days on the three Fridays ahead of the Christmas fair.
We ask for a £3 contribution to be made via Ticket Tailor: The £5 for "Fair Entry" is also being taken here. If anyone is unable to pay via Ticket Tailor please submit the money in an envelope (we have some if needed)
Christmas Fair - Friday 11 December (also Christmas Jumper Day!)
Y1 reps, as well as PTA chairs, have been busy planning the Christmas Fair and a parent mail will be sent out shortly with all the details - it will be different to other years with it not being opened up and children staying in their bubbles. We really are planning a great day filled with fun and joy for the children but we will need some help, well a lot of help actually .....
Requests for help to all classes:
Special Volunteer: We are looking for someone who may know a thing or two about collating videos to help us create a video surprise for each year. If you are able to help please get in touch coraoreilly@gmail.com
Toys/Books and Toilet Roll Inserts!! :As always we will take donations of any toys or books for our pre-loved stall. We will also need toilet roll inserts to help us deliver the crafts so store them up! Both these can be dropped at tree collecting Sat 5 Dec or at the school on Mon/Tues 7/8 Dec on the week of the fair. A good chance for a clear out before Christmas!
Christmas Decorations: The school are looking to decorate the entire school this year and would love to receive lots of donations of Christmas lights/decorations to help fill the school with cheer. Larger items would be welcomingly received too! A donation box will go out by each gate week commencing 16th November
We hope to have a baked goods stand so hopefully inspired by the cookbook you will be able to drop off some delicious goodies for the children to enjoy on the day of the fair.
If you have finished with any of these books and have them in good condition to pass on to our mini-St-Mikes nursery - please put your name against the books you can donate. We are specifically looking for these books rather than general donations and details on the WWU for toys to donate. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uXlkyPhmO6B47y40ZJtPkV4ASWUNzchP1qVXzaZ0aQQ/edit?usp=sharing
If you have any outstanding sponsorship from the readathon, please pay it directly into the PTA bank account clearly marked "Readathon". Golden Rule - if you pay anything into the PTA bank account - please always mark it with the name of the event it is linked to and make our treasurer a happy lady. PTA bank details are available from any of the PTA cttee: pta@stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.uk, treasurer@stmichaels.wandsworth.sch.uk, alexandracullis@hotmail.com, rosiehyde@hotmail.com
