Several of our stalls rely on donations from parents, so get Marie-Kondo-ing the house and enjoy a calmer space afterwards!
All donations can be dropped off to the Church Field on Friday 25 June when our volunteer parents will undertake 'The Big Sort'!
We accept the following donations:
Books
Adult & children's clothing
Toys
Soft toys
Tombola prizes (sweets, stationery, chocolates, toiletries etc)
Home cooked goodies for the home produce stall
Craft items for the home produce stall
For food items please ensure these are all wrapped or boxed up and presented for selling to ensure that they retain freshness and in order to keep them from soiling or contamination of any kind
Please think of the items you are selling as if you would be selling them in a farm shop. For example, smaller items eg brownies cupcakes scones etc these should be packaged in packs of 4 or 5 (or as looks sensible and what you would find in a shop for these products).
For food items please can you include a list of ingredients on a sheet of paper to put with the items so that we can display them next to the items on the stall
Please ensure that in particular any allergens are listed out. Such ingredients include: celery, cereals containing gluten (such as barley and oats), crustaceans (such as prawns, crabs and lobsters), eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs (such as mussels and oysters), mustard, peanuts, sesame, soybeans, sulphur dioxide and sulphites (at a concentration of more than ten parts per million) and tree nuts (such as almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, brazil nuts, cashews, pecans, pistachios and macadamia nuts).
Try to avoid baking or making anything with any nuts. (eg ground/ almonds, walnuts/peanuts etc). If you have made anything that may contain nuts please label this in BIG LETTERS: “CONtAINS NUTS” and please make sure these items are fully sealed and wrapped. Such items will be placed in a separate area of the stall due to the allergies in the school. For a guide on allergies please see the attached guide:
https://www.food.gov.uk/business-guidance/allergen-guidance-for-food-businesses
Just a reminder to ensure that the environment and equipment is clean and where appropriate (eg jams chutneys etc) jars and bottles are sterilised.
Delivery times
For any craft items or food items that are non-perishable within a few days of making (eg chutneys, jams) - these can be delivered to the field on the morning of Friday 25 June - put them in a box and label the box “Home produce stall” so we can easily match this up to the right stall in the day! For longer life items please note the date the item was made and if you know it the use by date.
For fresh/perishable cooked goods that need to be eaten soon after making (eg fresh cakes/scones/muffins/bread etc) please can you deliver these again in a box if you can mark it “homeproduce stall” and bring these to the St Mikes school field ideally by 10am on 26 June 2021 (day of the fete) so we have time to set up these items and price them up on the stall
Ideas of things to make
Really anything goes on the stall. However although we want to encourage as many items to be brought in for selling- try to think when making anything “would I or my child/family actually want to buy this item ” if the answer is no then consider whether it would be a better idea to make something else. The key for the items is to get them to sell and make money for the stall and the school.
Fresh food: Decorated cupcakes, muffins, toffee, fudge, sweets, decorated cake pops/other child’s sweets, recipes for cakes in a pretty jar or pot, fresh bread, large or small celebration type cakes, banana loaves, fruit cakes, carrot cakes, flapjacks
Longer life food: pickles, jams, chutneys, marinades, spice rubs, sauces, cordials...
Craft/other: Candles, knitted items (iPad/iPhone covers), bags, pouches, decorated hair clips
Please fill in this form if you are making items for the stall
Thank you for taking the time to read all of the above and hopefully for volunteering to make some produce for the day!
