Hello! My name is Ava Asbury, and I'm thrilled to be returning to St. Francis as a middle school science teacher. I am originally from Vienna, West Virginia, but have called Morgantown home since beginning my education at West Virginia University in the fall of 2017. I bring with me a passion for education and a background in science that I'm eager to share with my students.
I graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. This is where I cultivated a deep understanding of the human body and its functions. Upon graduation, I became a certified exercise physiologist recognized by the American College of Sports Medicine. After working in laboratory sales for a year, I decided to return to WVU, where I completed my Master's in Secondary Education, solidifying my commitment to empowering young minds through teaching.
As a science enthusiast, I believe in fostering a hands-on, inquiry-based approach to learning. My goal is not only to impart knowledge, but also to inspire curiosity and critical thinking in my students. I'm excited to create a dynamic classroom environment where experimentation and exploration are encouraged, sparking a love for science that extends beyond the textbooks.
Beyond the classroom, I'm dedicated to building strong relationships with my students, colleagues, and the wider school community. I believe that a supportive and inclusive learning environment is essential for student success, and I'm committed to creating a space where every student feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential.
I'm incredibly excited to begin on this school year and to get to know each and every one of my students. Together, let's have a fabulous school year with discovery, growth, and endless possibilities!
