Health 8: This class is designed to provide 8th graders the opportunities to practice decision making, communication skills, and goal setting in role-played or simulated situations that outline the importance of taking responsibility for individual actions, students examine violence prevention and develop strategies to promote safety. Discussion of the negative consequences of drug, alcohol, tobacco use, and sexual activity are topics of interest. Nutrition principles to healthy food choices; effects of risky behavior on the human body, and wellness; label and explains functions of the body systems and risk factors that lead to teen pregnancy and HIV/AIDS will be topics of discussion.
